The first thing people want to see when they come to Cootamundra, is the birthplace of cricketing legend Sir Donald Bradman. In 1908, the front room of 89 Adams Street was being used by midwife, Granny Scholz, as a small private hospital, and on August 27 that front room is where “the greatest batsman the world has ever known” was born.
The only Australian ever knighted for services to cricket, Sir Donald Bradman is iconic.
Famously described as being “worth three batsmen to Australia”, his achievements are displayed throughout the restored cottage.
Carry on with the cricket sights and stroll over to the Captain’s Walk.
