The town of Barmedman, with a truck stop, accommodation, general store, craft shop and bowling club is just 32km or a 25min drive on the Goldfields Way from West Wyalong.
For a cuppa and a treat made with special care visitors are encouraged to stop at the Barmedman craft Shop or if you need your daily bread, milk and newspaper the Post Office General store is open till 5pm most days.
Barmedman boasts a mineral swimming pool that originates from the flooding of goldmines by an underground stream in the 1880s. The large pool is run by locals, and situated on a four-hectare reserve looking out over the bush.
The water is said to have health giving properties, entry is by donation, and with barbeque, changing, and camping facilities this is a lovely spot to spend the day. The swimming season starts in the middle of October and continues to the end of March.
On the third Saturday in October, the local community host the biggest annual event, the Barmedman Modified Tractor Pull. See tuned-up tractors pull weighted sleds, enjoy food stalls, country markets, and rides for the kids. The engines of the crazy tractors scream and powerful exhausts flame into the night sky as darkness falls.
