Ever had the opportunity to spot a Malleefowl? Very few people have as they are very shy birds. In West Wyalong or Tallimba you might have an opportunity if you know where to look! Their natural habitat is in the Mallee scrub, BUT we made it easy for you! A replica Malleefowl is carved onto a tree stump located in McCann Park using a variety of chainsaws. One of the world’s best chainsaw carvers, Brandon Kroon from Melbourne created a spectacular wooden sculpture of a Malleefowl and Wedge Tail Eagle from a Redgum tree stump. A replica Malleefowl nest is also located in Cooinda Reserve together with a panel explaining the habitat of the Malleefowl. And if you like birdwatching, just head over to The Wetlands in Wyalong.
