Ungarie is located 42km northwest of West Wyalong on the road to Lake Cargelligo. The town has a wonderful open-air swimming pool and is the home of ‘The Big Football” – a large fiberglass Sherrin football which stands at Bing Walder Park as a tribute to the Daniher family. Born and raised in Ungarie, Terry, Neale, Anthony and Chris Daniher are the only set of four brothers to play together in a VFL/AFL premiership match.

Visitors can overnight in the Motel or at the self-contained caravan site at the Showgrounds which also has a free dump point.

A meal at the Central Hotel or Club is a must and makes the visit worthwhile.

The latest addition to Ungarie is the 44 war murals painted by Simon White and a rotating World Globe. This Globe depicts theatres of war where Ungarie servicemen and women have served from the Boer war 1890 until the present day. The Big Football, World Globe and War Murals form part of the Bland Shire Art Trail.

Ungarie also hosts the best agricultural shows in the region in the month of September.
